Mains 2016: 12 questions, 120 marks, 0 definition based question and 0 quotes based questions. Very tough and bookish paper. Many questions were static and thinkers based {26(b), 27(a), 27(b) and 32}. See File.
Mains 2017: 13 questions, 130 marks, 1 definition based question and 3 quotes based questions. Almost all of the questions were from Applied Ethics. Tough Paper to score high as it isn’t easy to get hold of demands of applied ethics question. See File.
Mains 2018: 13 questions, 130 marks, 0 definition based question and 6 quotes based questions. All non-quote based questions were easy and straight forward. See File.
Mains 2019: 13 questions, 130 marks, 0 definition based question and 5 quotes based questions. “Out of Box” terms asked like constitutional morality, public servant role, official secrets act etc. Kind of tough paper. See File.
As it can be seen, quote based questions are increasing. Also, focus is on applied ethics and definition based questions are decreasing.
In my view, not much is left to be asked straight from theory. Hence, more and more out of box topics are being asked!
